This week we are doing a little Dirty Talk with Broker Catherine Evans and Loan Officer Danielle DeSousa. While exploring the Laundry Room/Bat Cave they will be discussing what a realtor should disclose when selling a home and what questions a buyer should ask if they wonder about the house they are about to buy. As well on what buyers should do while applying for a home loan.

*Laundry tip: If you use a combination of stain remover and Dawn soap you can get a grease stain out effectively.

On this weeks Recipes & Real Estate, with Broker Catherine Evans and Loan Officer Danielle DeSousa, you will learn one final summer recipe while the two talk about applying for home loans, credit scores and downpayment assistance.

Ingredients:
2 cups diced English cucumber, about 1 large English cucumber
3/4 cup diced tomato from about 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded
1/2 cup red onion
1/4 cup minced jalapeño pepper, seeded and cored
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons freshly-squeezed lime juice
1 tablespoon freshly-grated lime zest
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
Tortilla chips, to serve

Steps to Make It:
*Gather the ingredients.
*In a large bowl combine the cucumber, tomato, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro. Toss to combine.
*Add lime juice, zest, garlic, salt, pepper, and cumin and toss gently to coat.
*Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
*Serve cucumber salsa with tortilla chips.

This weeks Recipes & Real Estate you will join Catherine Evans, Broker/Owner, and Danielle DeSousa, Loan Office, make a refreshing Cantaloupe with Citrus Mint salad while talking about different types of new construction loans.

Fresh cantaloupe is super refreshing when paired with lime, lemon and mint.

Recipe type: Fruit
Cuisine: Fruit
Serves: 4

Ingredients
½ lemon, juiced
½ lime, juiced
¼ c. fresh orange juice (about 1 orange)
1 Tb. honey (I used orange blossom)
2 Tb. fresh mint, chopped (+ some leaves for garnish)
½ large cantaloupe, chopped or balls

Instructions
Combine the citrus and honey in a small bowl; stir well to dissolve the honey. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before ready to serve.
Prep the fruit and place into a bowl and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving,
When ready to serve, add the mint into the citrus/honey mixture, and pour it over the melon; stir to combine.
Serve in pretty dishes, garnished with fresh mint (optional).

Notes
This recipe can easily be modified, based on what you have available. Don't worry about the measurements being exact (eg. if you don't have all 3 citrus, just use more of what you have; if you don't have honey, use some granulated sugar [but let it dissolve well before refrigerating], replace the cantaloupe with another melon, etc.).

Vegan Spiralized Summer Spring Rolls
PREP TIME 30 mins

Serving 6

Ingredients
For the dipping sauce: 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1/4 cup peanut oil
1/4 cup tahini
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons chili oil
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 garlic clove minced

For the spring rolls:
6 rice paper wrappers
1 large avocado peeled, pitted and thinly sliced (1/8” thick) handful of fresh cilantro
handful of fresh mint
1 large English seedless cucumber Blade D, noodles trimmed about 2 medium carrots peeled and julienned
about 2 packed cups Boston or Bibb lettuce
1 large lime quartered
pepper to season

Instructions
1. Make the dipping sauce. Combine all of the ingredients into a food processor and pulse until creamy. Reserve six tablespoons and save the rest in the refrigerator for future use (or freezer.)
2. Create an assembly line of the vegetables for the spring rolls (this just helps you keep organized).

3. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. One at a time, dip a rice wrapper sheet into the water for 5 to 10 seconds. Remove and place on a flat surface, like a cutting board or plate.
4. In the middle of one of the rice wrappers, lay 2 avocado slices (only do 1 if that’s all can fit) down, 1 pinch of cilantro and 1 pinch of mint, cucumber noodles, carrots, and top with lettuce. Squeeze over with 1/2 lime wedge and season with pepper.
5. Fold the bottom half of the rice paper wrapper over the filling. Holding firmly in place, fold the sides of the wrapper in. Then, pressing firmly down to hold in place, roll the entire wrapper horizontally up from the bottom to the top. Turn the roll so that the seam faces down and the avocado faces up.
6. Continue with the remaining ingredients and rice wrappers to make four. Place on a plate and cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate, if not serving immediately.
7. Serve the spring rolls with the dipping sauce.

Will be making a Cucumber Mojito spritzer while talking about common questions people have regarding home loans.

Ingredients:
3-4 fresh sprigs of Mint leaves
1 cucumber diced
1/2 cup lime juice (straight from the bottle or 8-10 fresh squeezed key limes
simple syrup, sprite, or club soda (your choice)
serve over Crushed ice
Garnish with cucumber slice on glass rim (if desired)
1-2 oz of Ketel One Botanical Cucumber Mint Vodka (for spiked version)
Makes 4 glasses

In 2013 the average price for a home then was $100k and the home design trends were that tile was replacing berber carpeting, dark wood cabinets and granite countertops adorned the kitchen and bathrooms with satin nickel finishes. Brown & beige colors were EVERYWHERE from the flooring to furniture to walls and the average living square foot home they sold were around 1800 sfla with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and 2 car garage.

Home design trends are changed in 2023. Wood vinyl plank flooring is replacing beige tile, gray & white colors adorn walls, floors and furniture. Black or gold finishes are making a comeback and quartz countertops are replacing granite. The newest counter top trend for 2023 is dolomite, a natural stone similar to granite or marble but with the durability of the man made quartz. The average living square foot for a home jumped to a minimum of 2000 sfla with 3 bedrooms and a den/office to accommodate the increase in working from home. Spacious outdoor living such as Florida rooms, outdoor patios and fenced in yards is also a BIG must for many buyers today.
